Petrit Çeku, guitar, began his music education in Prizren under Professor Luan Sapunxhiu. When he moved to Zagreb, he continued his education under Professor Xhevdet Sahatxhija. Çeku graduated from the Zagreb Academy of Music in 2008, under Professor Darko Petrinjak. He went on to study with Manuel Barrueco at the Peabody Conservatory of Music in Baltimore (USA). In his rich career, Çeku has won nine first prizes at competitions such as the Parkening International Guitar Competition in Malibu (2012, USA), the Allentown Symphony Schadt String Competition in Alentown (2011, USA), the Maurizio Biasini International Guitar Competition in Bologna (2011, Italy) and the Michele Pittaluga International Classical Guitar Competition in Alessandria (2007, Italy), among others. He has performed solo recitals throughout Europe and North America, and has appeared as a soloist with the Allentown Symphony Orchestra, the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, the Czech Philharmonic Chamber Orchestra, the St. Petersburg State Hermitage Orchestra, the Daejeon Philharmonic Orchestra, and the most renowned Croatian Philharmonic Orchestras such as the Zagreb Symphony Orchestra, the Dubrovnik Symphony Orchestra and the Croatian Radio and Television Symphony Orchestra (HRT Symphony Orchestra). Çeku regularly appears with the famed Zagreb Soloists and the Elogio Guitar Trio. He released his first CD for the American Naxos label (2008), while his recordings of Bach’s cello suites, arranged for the guitar by Valter Dešpalj, were issued by the Spanish Eudora Records label (2016). Çeku teaches Chamber Music for Guitar at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Graz (Austria). He plays a Ross Gutmeier guitar.
