Erlend Loe, a prominent Norwegian contemporary author, and one of the favourite writers of his region’s readership, wrote a series of children’s books whose protagonist is Kurt, a forklift truck driver. In this story, as a result of being a part of high society, Kurt has begun losing his self-confidence, so together with his little son, he starts outs in search of a great deed that would help him become important in his surroundings. While we were working on this play, we didn’t want to be some smart grownups with the direct aim of teaching you something. After all, children are quite often much smarter than us, just like our Bud is, only several years old and yet already smarter than his dad Kurt. We wanted to tell a story to children and share with them our thoughts, concerns, and feelings that came to life while we were hanging out with Erlend Loe and his protagonist Kurt.
