The project titled Cultural Intertwining: Strengthening the Mne-USA Ties aims to contribute to the promotion of culture and art and to strengthening ties between Montenegro and the United States by encouraging peer cooperation and the exchange and mobility of young musicians, composers, and music professors through initiating the composition of new works of classical music inspired by the musical and cultural heritage of these countries. Four works for string quartet are to be composed within the project – two commissions inspired by the heritage of the two countries and two classical arrangements of klapa songs and jazz standards. The project activities include online discussions for performers, composers, music professors, musicologists, and all those interested in the subject, during which the importance of nurturing such practices is discussed, as well as all the aspects of this process and why it is important for the preservation and promotion of cultural heritage and the further development of musical art. The finale of the project includes the presentation of new compositions, composers, and performers at concerts in Montenegro and the United States.
