The performance of the play An Iliad is part of a tour organized by the KotorArt International Festival in cooperation with the Ensemble Theatre Company in Santa Barbara (California). Adapted from Homer’s three-thousand-year-old epic poem The Iliad, the play presents a modern and affecting story in which the protagonists are the actor John Tufts and the musician, cellist Dmitriy Prokofiev. Based on the stories of Achilles and Hector, with alternating poetic and conversational language, the play reinterprets a well-known world classic in a fresh and modern way. Thanks to its minimalist scenography and simple lighting, it is very adaptable for staging in various venues. This powerful and vibrant theater piece brings to life humanity’s timeless compulsion to violence in a unique way.
