Ratimir Martinović, piano, with his vast intellect, brilliant technique, and original expression, has earned a special place and status among artists of his generation. After studying under Professor Emilija Spasojević in his hometown of Kotor, then under Professors Frederik Stanković and Arbo Valdma in Novi Sad, he found in Kemal Gekić, one of the greatest virtuosos of today, a pedagogue under whose tutelage he could truly thrive, going on to obtain his bachelor’s and master’s degree at the Academy of Arts in Novi Sad and Florida International University in Miami (USA) under his guidance. He is the founder and director of one of the most prestigious art music festivals in the Balkans – KotorArt, as well as of the Wild Beauty Art Festival in Durmitor National Park, while alsothe co-founder and president of the ME&US Foundation (Montenegro/United States) and the Vasilije Mokranjac Foundation. Ratimir Martinović has performed more than 700 concerts with over 60 orchestras in Europe and in many of the most prestigious venues around the world. He has released CDs featuring compositions by Bach, including J.S. Bach’s Goldberg Variations, Mozart, Chopin, Brahms, and Prokofiev. Ratimir Martinović has also long been dedicated to the oeuvre of Vasilije Mokranjac, one of the greatest composers of Southeast Europe, whose complete piano opus he premiered at almost a three-hour recital in Belgrade before going to record it on a double compact disc. He is one of the youngest full professors in the history of the University of Novi Sad.
