Damir Urban is an independent artist, primarily engaged in music, and occasionally in painting and acting. He recorded ten albums as a member of the group Laufer, as well as several independent albums. He is the winner of professional awards Porin, Crni Mačak, the MTV Gold Award, the City of Rijeka Award, and the Miroslav Korbler Award of the Croatian Society of Composers. Damir Urban is the author of music for theater and television. He cooperates intensively with Ante Gelo. Their concert album Urban & 4 & Zagreb Philharmonic Live at Lisinski won three Porin Awards. Damir Urban has acted in the film Mondo Bobo (Goran Rušinović), the choreodrama The Lady of the Camellias (HNK Zajc, Damir Zlatar Frey), the student play Birds (Department of Acting, Media and Culture), The Kids from the Marx and Engels Street (Nikola Vukčević), the film Because of You (Anđelo Jurkas), and, as his most important role, in the play Antigone – 2000 Years Later, a Ulysses Theater production, which has toured and won awards throughout Europe. Damir Urban is the author of several independent exhibitions of paintings and works of art, and is a member of multiple professional associations. He is the author of the multimedia project James Joyce’s Room, featured in Brioni National Park, in cooperation with the Ulysses Theater. Damir Urban realizes the audio-visual project Here in cooperation with the University of Rijeka.
