The first higher education institution for the education of artists in Montenegro, the University was founded in 1980 in Titograd (today’s Podgorica), initiating its programs the same year. It moved its headquarters to Cetinje in 1996, in the inspiring ambience of the historical core of the traditional Montenegrin capital and today holds its activities in the building of the former British Embassy. The Academy of Music is an internationally recognized artistic and educational institution with developed departments and courses, study cycles, and distinct artistic and scientific activities, by which it has achieved its highly regarded results. It offers students the acquisition of knowledge in two study programs: bachelor’s and master’s studies in Performing Arts and General Music.
