CLIMATEUROPE2
LECTURE
Importance of Climate Services
Through the Climateurope2 project, the Center for the Promotion of Science is developing a community of climate service users, providing essential tools for making sustainable and climate-neutral decisions at all levels. The roadshow, a traveling climate action program called the “capsule,” will take place in a total of 10 locations across Southeast Europe, with the first 5 events scheduled for 2024, starting in June. This program aims to present and promote climate services and expand the existing Climateurope2 community in this underrepresented region. The event combines science and art to raise awareness about the importance of climate services and convey scientific facts through artistic expression.
INTERDISCIPLINARY EXHIBITION
Climate Capsule
Age Group: 15+
Type of Content: Immersive experience
The traveling climate action combines science and art to raise awareness about climate change and convey scientific facts through art. The concept includes the Climate Capsule and the AI installation called M1L3NɅ, serving as a space for dialogue among scientists, artists, and citizens about future climate change scenarios and our individual and collective roles in shaping them. The Climate Capsule, a mobile artistico-scientific installation, guides visitors through an apocalyptic scenario set in 2057, illustrating the state of a society that failed to take action on climate change in 2024, resulting in a reality vastly different from today. The M1L3NɅ installation leads visitors through contemporary popular fortune-telling practices, such as astrology and tarot reading. The work consists of two parts: a story of the past and a story of the future. The first prediction process starts when visitors enter a significant date (e.g. birthday), and M1L3NɅ provides them with a brief history of the global climate since that date. The bridge to the second part, the future, is presented through a personal question posed to the visitor, determining the response and a future climate forecast.
