Kemal Gekić, one of the most prominent pianists of his generation, is recognized for his original approach to musical interpretation, his unique artistry, and his technical perfection, his performances often provocative and intriguing. He performs regularly throughout Europe, the United States, the Near and Far East, Canada, Russia, Japan, the Southeast Pacific, and Egypt. Halls full to capacity at Kemal Gekić’s concerts in Japan have captured the attention of many universities and conservatories throughout the country, where he now holds numerous master classes. His compact disc released for Naxos featuring Rossini-Liszt transcriptions won The Rosette Prize of The Penguin Guide to Music, while his recording for JVC featuring Liszt’s Transcendental Etudes is widely considered to be the best recording of this set in the history of pianism. Kemal Gekić studied Piano under Professor Jokuthon Mihailović at the Academy of Arts in Novi Sad, where he then began his pedagogical career. Currently, he is Professor at Florida International University in Miami (USA) and a Visiting Professor at numerous universities and academies around the world.
