The concept of the concert by the Bolling Chinese Youth Orchestra at KotorArt is based on a “musical journey” during which pieces such as Mexicaine, À la française, Sérénade, Chicago, Africaine, and music from all continents are uniquely presented, along with a multitude of Chinese music that possesses great passion and spirit. The melodies take the audience on a journey through different countries and regions, suggesting that beyond the horizon, we hear the breathing and rhythm coming from the vast land beneath our feet. In the current year of 2024, the anniversary of the establishment of Sino-French diplomatic relations is being celebrated and Li Weijie and other young Chinese musicians sincerely invite the audience to enjoy the distinct charm of Claude Bolling and together experience the oeuvre of this musical legend across time and space. Bolling (1930–2020), one of the greatest French musicians of recent times, promoted classical music and jazz, creating works that reflect the fusion of jazz and elements of classical music composition. A recipient of numerous awards, the composer created pieces that allow the audience to explore the realm of musical fantasy.
