Lazar Pejović, artist, proffesor of University of Montenegro

The project focuses on georeferencing locations that have inspired works of modern art in Montenegro. Its core concept is to establish connections between specific places in physical space and the artistic works inspired by them. This approach directly bridges nature and cultural heritage, enriching the understanding and appreciation of both. Artistic creations thus become fresh focal points for experiencing the natural surroundings, while the landscape offers deeper insights into their artistic interpretations. Given that numerous artists – from Pero Poček and Petar Lubarda to Mihailo Vukotić and Milo Milunović – have drawn inspiration not only from prominent Montenegrin cities like Cetinje, Ulcinj, and Budva but also from various lesser-known areas, this cultural-touristic map encompasses a substantial portion of Montenegro, beyond just iconic landscapes. Through the utilization of digital technologies, users shall gain access to comprehensive information about specific works (including their origins, locations, and more), along with broader cultural contexts. It is also envisaged that distribution channels could be further developed and integrated with other applications, potentially expanding to incorporate physical forms onsite in the future.
