The imaginary TV show Nature and Society speaks about the secret connection between the yellow press, W. A. Mozart, selfie sticks, and copyrights by breaking down capitalism through the example of copyright in the era of the digital economy. If a young man named Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart wanted to hear the greatest musical hits of his time, both domestic and foreign, he could only choose between buying tickets for concerts or purchasing the notes, to play the aforementioned hits on his own. Nowadays, music, like almost any other authored product, is instantly available to audiences around the world, so we often forget that no book is written by itself; that the songs, movies, and shows don’t happen spontaneously, but rather that behind each of these works stands someone’s work. What has technology advancement brought to the authors, and what to the consumers of their works? How do we explain the concepts of Intellectual property and copyrights to youth and get them to start thinking about acceptable models of their protection? Those are some of the questions this show will try to answer.
