PROCLAMATION OF THE WINNER AND AWARDS

This year Perast will host 21 klapas from Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Montenegro. Among them are several winners of the most prestigious awards at the oldest and most renown klapa festival - FDK, in Omis. It is a confirmation of their respect for our festival, which is as well visited by the most famous klapas from the region. We are proud to have featured over the years the female klapas of Neverin, Luka, Štorija, Kolura, Ventula, Teranke, and Stentorija, among others, the mixed klapa Signum, and those who have stood as winners of many of the greatest awards and prizes, the male klapas Kambi, Šufit, Filip Dević, Bunari, Pinguentum, Kontra, Praska, and Kaše, who performed the festival hymn The Glory of Perast. Everyone has been enriched by their songs in Perast, where we have welcomed as our friends and associates many elite experts of Klapa: Jakša Fiamengo, Rajmir Kraljević, Mojmir Čačija, Joško Ćaleta, Vinko Didović, and the late Nikola Buble. This year, the Festival of Perast is honored with new compositions by Dušan Tambača, Krešimir Magdić, and Jure Šaban-Stanić. It is a special joy to notice the growing number of  compositions of domestic authors, as well as the appearance of new klapas that are being formed in Montenegro, some of them quite young – like Kotor Gardeline, who will premier in Perast with songs arranged by Mario Katavić, inspired from their early encounters with songs of the Boka heritage of klapa music. Camerton from Podgorica will also make their debut this year, just as Incanto, Bellezze, and O'dive from Berane once did, or Alate and Assa Voce from Podgorica. Our art director, Prof. Jasminko Šetka, has been teaching them the secrets of performing the celebrated klapa songs from Dalmatia for many years now. We mention all of  them because they significantly contributed to the expansion and development of the festival and its well-deserved recognition.
