KotorArt Academy for music and theater professionals is a new segment of the KotorArt International Festival, designed to offer producers and cultural managers a comprehensive overview of various activities in the performing arts field, with a specific focus on music and theater. 

KotorArt Academy for music and theater professionals will take place from July 24th to July 29th, 2024, in Kotor, as part of the KotorArt International Festival program. This year's experts and lecturers of the Academy include: Gabrielle Bernoville, Policy Assistant of the Creative Europe Programme of the European Commission, Jan Briers, President of the European Festivals Association (EFA), Katherine Haataja, CEO and Founder of the Operosa Montenegro Opera Festival, Sophie Vanden Broeck, Assistant to the Managing Director for International Expansion at the NTGent theater, and tour producer for performances of Jan Fabre and Milo Rau, Dubravka Vrgoč, dramaturge and intendant of the Croatian National Theatre Ivan pl. Zajc in Rijeka, Jelena Janković-Beguš and Milica Kadić, Program managers of the Belgrade Festival Centre (CEBEF) and Producers of BEMUS, Anica Tomić, theater director and actress, and Sara Mandić, Development and Production manager of the KotorArt International Festival.

The Academy program will offer participants an overview of various forms of engagement in music and performing arts through the aspects of international cooperation. The focus will be on artistic as well as production, administrative, financial, and legal issues in both regional and European contexts.

Selected participants will attend expert lectures on various production and co-production models, financing and support mechanisms, sustainability in music and performing arts, as well as strategies for tours and accessing foreign markets. Workshops with selected mentors will enable participants to develop and refine their projects and focus on practical work. Part of the program will involve familiarizing participants with different modalities of regional and international cooperation, as well as networking opportunities with other professionals in the field. 

The program will also be enriched by performances, concerts, and other events presented as part of the XXIII KotorArt International Festival, along with daily discussions on jointly envisioned programs.


WHO ARE WE SEEKING AND WHAT IS OFFERED TO SELECTED CANDIDATES?

 

The Call is open to theater and music professionals aged up to 35 with experience in production and organization. 
Selected candidates will have their registration fees and accommodation costs fully covered in Kotor during the Academy, including access to KotorArt programs. Selected candidates are responsible for organizing and covering their own travel expenses

HOW TO APPLY? 

To apply, please complete the online form available at THIS link no later than April 28, 2023. 

The online form must be filled out in English and, in addition to providing the applicant's CV and basic information, it should also include a brief description of the project/initiative (up to 2 pages in A4 format). It is recommended that the project/initiative description covers the following categories: project/initiative title, objectives, target groups, sustainability of the project/initiative (including potential social and economic value and innovative aspects), as well as information about partnerships or collaborations related to the proposed project or initiative.

Projects will be evaluated by an Expert Jury composed of renowned professionals from the fields of theater and music production, as well as cultural and creative industries from the Western Balkan countries. Selected candidates will be notified via email after the selection process is completed.
